I've been home for a few days now and am just now finally getting around to posting pictures from the funeral almost 2 weeks ago (held September 11th). We had a pretty good turnout of family, friends, and other people that have been in Larry's life in recent years.
On the TV was the slide show I worked on and the programs right in front of it on a table in the funeral home.
The funeral turned out nicely. It wasn't long and depressing - we happily reminisced about Larry and the positive effects his life had on us. We could feel peace in knowing that he is with God and our family again, and that now he waits for us. The funeral started out with a hymn and prayer, then the siblings took a few moments to share special memories of Larry - Shelsi, Sam, me, and then Sundae. A lady from mom's ward sang a special musical number "I Know that My Redeemer Lives", then mom shared special memories and her testimony. Our cousin Reggie read the poem "Handicapped or Reserved" that a past bus driver of Larry's had written for him a long time ago. We had the closing hymn and prayer, then the pall bearers carried Larry's casket outside to the funeral vehicle to transport him to the Mesa City Cemetery. Larry will be buried in the same plot as our Grandma (an arrangement made even before she passed), so it will be nice to be able to visit both of their resting places at the same time.
