ten on tuesday 3-23: grant edition

1. Grant shares a birthday with my younger sister. When we checked in to the hospital at 1 a.m. on the 24th, my first thought was "Well, looks like he will share a birthday with my sister!"


2. Just after my first contractions started - though I wasn't sure they were real ones - we stopped for Mexican food at Ramon's in Rosamond, CA. That was the night before Grant was born. It's now tradition for us to go out for Mexican food on the 23rd.


3. Though I made a list of boy names we liked, we were pretty much positive that we liked the name Grant. It's a name I've always thought was nice, plus it is the name of Landon's maternal grandfather.


4. He is the first grandson in Landon's family and the eighth grandson on my side. We have a lot of boys on my side.


5. Grant has always had smiley eyes. His little eyes twinkle whenever he smiles.


6. Speech has been the slowest thing for Grant to develop, but he's always making progress. He makes sounds for: eyes, nose, ears, says 'wee!', 'whoa', 'yeah', now does the "buh" sound well, all of the long vowels & most of the short, and - like most toddlers - says 'no' like a champ. Despite any speech delays, he is very expressive and can sure still let you know exactly what he wants.


7. Grant was the cuddliest baby. He still today loves to give hugs and be held by mommy and daddy.


8. Grant's diet right now: graham crackers, chicken nuggets, yogurt, pizza, waffles/pancakes/french toast, and water (sometimes milk). This time two years ago we were still feeding him through his g-tube, so I'm thrilled with his progress.


9. Grant got his haircut again yesterday. He's not a fan of whole process (but he looks handsome!) I'm taking both boys to get some professional pictures today (Kyle's first time).


10. This boy is so good at puzzles and shape sorter toys. He also loves books, cars, anything he can roll, and absolutely anything having to do with Mickey Mouse.
